Serious Injury Shakes College Baseball Game, Leaves Fans Concerned

A Seton Hall University baseball player suffered a serious and unexpected injury after hitting a home run during the opening game of the Puerto Rico Challenge against Boston College. In the fifth inning, left fielder Justin Ford hit a two-run homer to give Seton Hall a 4–3 lead. However, moments after rounding first base, the junior collapsed in visible pain and was unable to continue. The incident quickly shifted the focus of the game, which had started as a competitive matchup.

Video of the moment later circulated online, showing Ford celebrating as he ran the bases before landing awkwardly and appearing to injure his ankle. Seton Hall’s official baseball account confirmed the situation, posting: “Ford injured himself while rounding the bases. Please join us in sending Justin best wishes and a speedy recovery.”

Medical staff rushed onto the field, and a stretcher was brought out to assist Ford. He was replaced by a pinch runner to complete the play. Despite his home run, which accounted for Seton Hall’s final runs, Boston College rallied to secure a 6–4 victory.

Details about the exact nature of Ford’s injury have not yet been released, but early reactions suggest it may be significant. Fans and fellow players have expressed concern and support, wishing him a full and fast recovery. Ford appeared in 17 games for Seton Hall in 2025, starting 12, and recorded 14 hits with seven RBIs.
