Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Release Date Changed amid His Four-Year Term — Latest Updates

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ prison release date has quietly changed. Here’s what factored into the reduced time as he continues fighting his four-year sentence.

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ projected prison release date has changed again, marking the latest development in a case that has seen multiple timeline shifts during his incarceration.

The revised date moves his release up by several weeks as he continues to appeal his conviction. What prompted the latest adjustment, however, lies within federal prison policy.

A Shift in the Timeline

According to Page Six on March 2, 2026, Federal Bureau of Prisons records indicate that Combs’ projected release date was moved from June 4, 2028, to April 25, 2028.

The revision trims roughly six weeks from his expected time in custody and does not affect his pending appeal. The change stems from a federal program that allows certain inmates to qualify for limited sentence reductions.

What Led to the Change

Comb’s projected release date was adjusted after he entered the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) in November 2025. The federal initiative allows qualifying inmates to earn limited sentence reductions under Bureau of Prisons guidelines.

At the time, his representative said, “Mr. Combs is an active participant in the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) and has taken his rehabilitation process seriously from the start.”

The representative also told the publication that the rapper is “fully engaged in his work, focused on growth, and committed to positive change.”

That development, however, was not the only time his projected release date changed.

Release Date Previously Extended

Last year, Combs’ anticipated release was delayed by about one month. According to Page Six in November 2025, he was initially scheduled to complete his sentence at Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institute in New Jersey on May 8, 2028. That date was later revised to June 4, 2028.

While officials did not publicly outline the specific reason for the adjustment, the change followed reports that he had allegedly violated multiple prison rules.

Those claims soon prompted a response from his team.

Representative Responds to Claims

Combs’ representative addressed a separate allegation that he had been caught drinking homemade alcohol while incarcerated at Fort Dix.

As reported by People, TMZ claimed Combs was found with a fermented mixture made from soda, sugar, and apples. The outlet also reported that officials considered transferring him to another unit but ultimately allowed him to remain where he was housed.

In a statement to the publication, his spokesperson said, “There have been several false and reckless reports circulating about Mr. Combs. He has not violated any prison rules. His sobriety and self-discipline are priorities, and he is taking them seriously.”

At the time, his spokesperson noted that it was Combs’s first week at FCI Fort Dix and suggested that speculation was likely to arise during his incarceration.

The representative urged, “We ask the public and the press to give him the benefit of the doubt, the privacy to focus on his personal growth, and the grace to move forward in peace.”

A message shared on the musician’s social media account similarly described the allegation as “completely false,” stating that his focus remains on personal growth and returning to his family.

As developments in his case continued, images from inside the prison drew public attention.

As previously reported on November 3, 2025, the last widely circulated public images of Combs showed him attending high-profile events and red carpets.

The mugshots offered a stark contrast, presenting the music executive in prison-issued attire.

As soon as the photos surfaced, the internet lit up with commentary.

On Instagram, reactions ranged from supportive to stunned.“glad to see him holding up. hopefully he comes out a stronger and wiser person [sic],” one viewer wrote. Another remarked, “No hair dye, no Botox, no fillers, no caretakers…wow!”

Others focused on his hair, “Looking gray😂😂😂😂.” But the teasing was followed by genuine support. One commenter shared, “Hope he make it through safe ❤️.” Another chimed in, “Good to see him smiling.” Another added, “Looks healthy to me.”

Meanwhile, over on Facebook, the tone shifted toward skepticism and advice. One person questioned, “How do we know who that is? How was this pic even taken & when [sic].”

Another observed, “No hair dye in jail 🤷🏽‍♂️,” while a separate commenter offered encouragement, “Diddy spend your time wisely and come back a better person than before…..💪🏿💯.”

The photos in question showed Combs in standard prison-issued attire — a gray sweatshirt, matching sweatpants, a beanie, and a dark jacket. He stood casually in what appeared to be a prison yard, talking with other inmates.

According to CNN on October 31, 2025, the 55-year-old is incarcerated at Fort Dix, a low-security federal prison in New Jersey. Authorities transferred him there after he spent 13 months in pre-sentence custody at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.

In early 2025, Combs was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and was sentenced to 50 months in prison. He specifically requested Fort Dix to participate in its drug treatment program and remain closer to his family.

With time already served and potential program credits, his projected release date was May 8, 2028, according to the Bureau of Prisons. His legal team filed an appeal and requested expedited proceedings.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that Combs had applied for a presidential pardon, though no decision had been announced at the time.

Combs is not the only celebrity incarcerated at Fort Dix. “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Joe Giudice was reportedly held at the same federal correctional facility.

As Sean “Diddy” Combs’ appeal moves forward, his projected release date now reflects time served and eligibility under federal program guidelines. The case continues to evolve, drawing both legal scrutiny and public attention.
